IKEA TO OPEN ITS SECOND MEGASTORE IN MOROCCO IN TÉTOUAN

• The operation will create 500 direct jobs and 1000 indirect jobs in the region.

World leader in furniture and decorative furnishings, IKEA announced in mid-June the upcoming opening of its second megastore in the Kingdom. The establishment of this new store represents an investment of nearly 400 million dirhams, which will further boost the economy of the northern region of Morocco.

Indeed, Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region is experiencing a great economic and social boom, thanks in particular to Tanger Med, he leading industrial port complex in the Mediterranean and in Africa, and is demonstrating significant development potential on a daily basis.

In order to support the thousands of households attracted to the region each year, IKEA has chosen to set up its second Moroccan megastore. This opening, scheduled for June 2022, is in line with the brand’s development plan over the past 5 years, which has seen the launch of three IKEA pop-ups, including one in the North, as well as the new store format at the Morocco Mall in Casablanca and the e-commerce site, in addition to the Zenata megastore.

Located in the commercial zone developed by “Tanger Med Zones”, this new store will bring the unique IKEA experience to a new consumers , while creating 500 direct jobs and 1000 indirect jobs in the region.

With a surface area of 16,100 m2, the store will include a 3,700 m2 showroom, a 3,450 m2 market concourse and IKEA’s first restaurant with a terrace, which can accommodate up to 250 people. It will also offer a unique outdoor exhibition space in the IKEA universe and in Morocco, in the form of a 500 m2 glass roof, which will house its outdoor furniture selection throughout the year.
