ALPLA, an international group, enters the Moroccan market to strengthen its presence in North Africa and pave the way for growth in the region. The plastic packaging specialist has acquired a majority stake in packaging producer Atlantic Packaging and founded the ALPLA Morocco JV (joint venture) with former sole shareholder/owner Diana Holding. The plant, located in the Tanger Free Zone, produces not only PET preforms for the beverage industry but also pallets and plastic films. Preform production has recently been tripled thanks to investment in new machinery.

As part of its international expansion efforts, ALPLA now offers safe, affordable, and sustainable plastic packaging solutions in Morocco. ALPLA brings its expertise and experience to the production of PET preforms for regional markets in the Maghreb and West Africa.

In addition to preforms, ALPLA Morocco also produces plastic pallets by injection molding and packaging films by extrusion at its modern Tanger Free Zone plant. The site currently employs 34 people. ALPLA Morocco’s preform production capacity had already tripled by 2023 thanks to two additional preform production lines. In the coming years, ALPLA is even committed to expanding the Moroccan site’s portfolio through other local activities, potentially including bottle and cork production.

This initiative aims to lay the foundations for sustainable growth and packaging solutions in the Northwest Africa region. “Together with our strategic partner Diana Holding, we aim to exploit the enormous potential of regional markets, open up new segments, and contribute our expertise as a global supplier of systems for preforms, bottles and closures,” explains Christian Fessler, ALPLA’s Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa.
