TANGER MED FOUNDATION LAUNCHES A MEDICAL CAMPAIGN FOR CATARACT TREATMENT IN FAHS ANJRA

Tanger Med Foundation has initiated an extensive medical program aimed at reducing cataract cases in the main activity areas of Tanger Med Group, particularly in the Fahs Anjra province. This initiative is carried out in close collaboration with local authorities, associations, and private healthcare stakeholders in Tangier.

The campaign began with a pilot group of around twenty identified recipients. These people received cataract surgery and medical and administrative support for their care. The costs of the partner clinic are borne jointly by the Foundation and the recipients’ mutual insurance companies.

In line with the national drive to extend social security coverage, participants in the medical caravan also benefited from the Foundation’s awareness-raising campaigns and administrative assistance to help them regularize their situation with the various mutual insurance companies and social security organizations in Morocco.

The next phase of the medical campaign is scheduled for 2024 and will further expand the number of rural populations eligible for medical diagnosis and surgery, with the aim of eradicating cataracts in the Fahs Anjra province.

During this second phase, the census and diagnostic operation will be carried out in the province’s douars, after which patients will be referred to partner health organizations in Tangier.
